How to Know What’s True for You - Without Overthinking It

Have you ever been stuck trying to make a decision, going back and forth in your head until you're completely confused?
Or heard someone share their opinion about something, and felt that its wrong - even if their words sounded logical?

Here’s something that you will be surprised to know: Your body already knows what’s true for you. And if you’re willing to pay attention, it will tell you - every time.

The Tool: “Light and Heavy”
This tool is about tuning into your body’s wisdom, instead of trying to figure everything out in your head. It’s very simple:
·        When something is true for you, it feels light.
·        When something is not true (or not aligned with you), it feels heavy.
Light can feel like ease, expansion, space, or even a sense of relief. Heavy can feel like tension, tightness, resistance, or a sinking sensation. Your body is always giving you clues - this tool teaches you how to listen.

Why This Works
We’re taught to analyze things mentally. But what our mind calls “logic” is often just layers of conditioning, past experiences, fear, or other people’s beliefs.
The truth is our knowing doesn’t come from our mind, it comes from awareness. And awareness often shows up first in our body. This tool bypasses the noise of overthinking and reconnects you with what feels true for you, even if it doesn’t make logical sense at first.

How to Use It
Think of a statement like, “This job is right for me,” or “This person supports my growth. ”Say it in your mind. Now check in with your body.
Do you feel light - a sense of expansion or ease? Or heavy - tightness, stress, or contraction?
You can try this with anything:
• Foods your body desires
• People you’re unsure about
• Travel plans, work choices, even small decisions
• Advice or opinions you hear from others
If it feels light, it’s true for you. If it feels heavy, it might not be - even if it sounds good on paper.

A Few Tips to Make It Easier
• Start small. Ask your body: “Do you want water?” Feel what’s light or heavy. Practice with everyday choices.
• Don’t force it. If you’re not sure right away, that’s okay. Just keep playing with it. Your awareness grows with use.
• You don’t need a reason. If it feels heavy, you can say no. If it feels light, you can say yes - no explanation needed.
This isn’t about “right” or “wrong”. It’s about what works for you.

One Last Thought
When you start living from lightness, life becomes easier. You stop second-guessing yourself. You begin to trust yourself again. And you open the door to more peace, joy, and possibility. So the next time you’re stuck, ask:
“Does this feel light, or heavy?”
Let your body lead the way. It’s been trying to speak to you all along.
